Edge sports a dark theme instead of IE11, which was infamous for its white UI that you could not change. The user interface takes elements from Internet explorer but is much more minimalist to improve usability.

The browser is a mix of Internet Explorer 11's design and Google Chrome's speed and features. Overall, Microsoft Edge is a sleek, fast, and fluid browser-whether you're browsing the web or reading PDFs. Microsoft based Edge on Google's Chromium framework, the same software that powers most of the world's browsers, including Google Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi. It features built-in learning tools like the digital ruler, e-book reader, note-taker, Cortana integration, new tab organization, reading view, tab preview feature, PDF viewing, and advanced security features. Microsoft Edge may be the cat’s meow (how’s that for dating myself) but it appears to me to be inserting itself unbidden in my 7 Pro system where my Chrome and Firefox are functioning just fine! How do I eliminate this ongoing intrusion? And, why is the “new and improved” MS Edge trying to do anything in such an obsolete system as mine, when I did not invite it in.Microsoft Edge is a free internet browser on Windows 10 and 11 designed to be faster and safer than its predecessors. I like what I have now and at the age of 72 I no longer have the ability, knowledge, or desire to row throw a system to somehow save dozens and dozens of currently functioning programs (you know, the term used before they were called apps) and all of its stored data. In previous Microsoft OS upgrades it was possible to overwrite the existing OS and retain the function of the existing programs and the data and files of the previous system. My system has been built dating back from the days of DOS. Ain’t gona’ happen as I do not have the time and knowledge to restore a computer, files and legacy programs overwritten by a new OS.

Suddenly here in June 2020 Microsoft Edge is popping up every time I attempt to browse with Chrome, virtually demanding I upgrade to Windows 10.
